This project is brought to you by Brighter Futures Yorkshire CIO, Now Then!, and York & Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
The project aim is to explore the wellbeing benefits of spaces we live in and to use our learning to inspire the future development of spaces around the New Selby War Memorial Hospital.
During the project, participants explored spaces around Selby using photography, creative writing and sound. This helped participants to understand how aspects of spaces might contribute to positive wellbeing whilst also building skills in the use of all three creative approaches. We then explored the unique spaces that boost our own wellbeing to create the final works that can be seen and heard in these exhibitions.
We hope that you enjoy all the art presented here and that it helps and encourages you to consider, develop and nurture those spaces in your life that you enjoy and find beneficial to your wellbeing.
Clicking on the image opens the interactive Zine / Exhibition Catalogue and allows you to view all work produced and to listen to the associated sound files. Click on the green button on each page to either view the artwork in its original orientation or to listen to the associated sound recording.
If listening to the sound recordings in a public location, please be considerate of those around you. If possible use headphones for a truly immersive experience.
We are a local community charity run entirely by and for people living around Selby, North Yorkshire that experience mental health challenges. We run a weekly support group and a creativite group as well as organising day trips and holidays for our participants. We also run one off projects exploring wellbeing.
